NMIS TO STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIP WITH LGUs

 

Dr. Jocelyn A. Salvador, OIC Executive Director of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), in a meeting held on February 9, 2021 at her office, stated that she wants to strengthen NMIS’ relationship with Local Government Units (LGUs).  She wanted the NMIS - Regional Technical Operation Centers (RTOCs)   to actively coordinate with the LGU’s food safety programs and activities as a way of elevating meat safety measures along the food chain.      

 

NMIS GOES DIGITAL AUTOMATION FOR ITS LICENSING APPLICATION

 

The National Meat Inspection Service launched on March 10 at the NMIS SHE Hall the NMIS Accreditation and Registration Information System, an online application system  for the issuance of license to operate for meat establishments such as slaughterhouses, poultry dressing plants,  meat cutting plants, and cold storages and warehouse. The NARIS hopes to establish an effective practice and efficient turn-around of the delivery of licensing services by the NMIS.

 

NMIS REMINDS THE PUBLIC ON BUYING ONLY SAFE MEAT 

With the soaring prices of pork and chicken meat in the country, Dr. Jocelyn A. Salvador - OIC, Executive Director of the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) in an emergency meeting held yesterday at the Director’s office, has instructed the Meat Standards and Development Consumer Protection Division (MSDCPD) to craft a statement regarding the NMIS’ responsibility for ensuring safe meat for human consumption regardless of the price of meat.

ARB evaluates 4 FMEs for Accreditation

To ensure that the production and distribution of meat by Foreign Meat Establishments (FME) are in line with international standards, the Accreditation Review Body (ARB) convened on January 18, 2024 at Training Room A, 3rd floor, MITDC Building, NMIS, Quezon City to deliberate the recommendation on the conducted Department of Agriculture Inspection Missions (DAIM) in Poland, Hungary, Germany and Brazil on the last quarter of 2023. Four (4) DAIM Reports covering Poland for New System Accreditation for beef and pork, Hungary for New Individual Accreditation for three FMEs for pork and poultry meat(chicken, duck and geese), Germany for Revalidation of the System Accreditation for beef, pork, chicken and turkey, and Brazil for New System Accreditation for beef, pork chicken, turkey and duck meat were presented to the board. .
